Embark on a journey of spiritual growth and reflection with our annual Lenten Retreat, themed "The Cost of Discipleship: Entering Lent with Dietrich Bonhoeffer." We will explore the profound and challenging insights of one of the 20th century's most influential theologians, Dietrich Bonhoeffer, through his well-known work, The Cost of Discipleship.

Begin Lent With Us
We invite you to join us at Word of Life Church in St. Joseph, MO for our Ash Wednesday evening service on March 5. Then, travel 1.5 hours to Lied Lodge for our Lenten Retreat. Stay over and join us again for Sunday worship at WOLC on the first Sunday of Lent on March 9.
Food
Registration fees include meals served by Lied Lodge: Thursday dinner, three meals on Friday, and breakfast on Saturday. Dietary restrictions and allergies will be considered, and accommodations will be made.
There are alternative options for food at Lied Lodge which are not included in the retreat fees. One restaurant on site is Timbers, voted one of the 50 most beautiful restaurants in America. Between meals, find a cozy place to read or gather and talk while enjoying an appetizer or drink in the Library Lounge.

Lodging
Registration fees have options for single and double occupancy at Lied Lodge. Options include rooms with a king bed or two queen beds. Room availability is based on a first come first served basis.
Pricing
Total cost for food, lodging, and all events:
$550 per person for single occupancy
$425 per person for double occupancy
A non-refundable deposit of $275 for single occupancy and $215 for double occupancy is due at registration.

Brian and Peri Zahnd are the founders and lead pastors of Word of Life Church in St. Joseph, Missouri. Brian is also a pastor-theologian who has authored eleven books, including Sinners In the Hands of a Loving God, When Everything’s on Fire, and The Wood Between the Worlds.
